Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

Do you feel “at the end of your rope” in your relationship? Are you tired of having the same disagreement over and over again, with no end in sight? Do you wonder if you will ever be able to trust your partner again? Do you fear that the problems in your relationship may tear the two of you apart?

You might be surprised to find what a difference couples therapy can make in the well being of your relationship. Having seen numerous couples in my practice over the years, I am a firm believer in the transformational possibilities of couple’s therapy. While each couple is different, there are a couple of things that you can expect from our work together.

First, drawing upon my background and training in E.F.T. or “Emotionally Focused Therapy“, I will help you begin to experience more emotional safety in your relationship. Emotionally Focused Therapy is a research-based therapy for couples and is effective in reducing conflict, changing old patterns, and increasing a sense of connection. It is only when this ground of safety and connection is established that you and your partner can begin to share and explore your individual feelings and needs within the relationship.

Secondly, I will help you establish a more clear and productive way to communicate your feelings and needs. When communication is clear and healthy, then the stage is set for you to be met in a more open and non-defensive manner by your partner. Beginning to rest in a sense of safety, and clear, honest and respectful communication, the doors can then begin to open to:

  • Feelings of increased love and intimacy with your partner
  • An ability to grow and explore together both as individuals and as a couple
  • A more satisfying sexual connection, both emotionally and physically
  • A experience of your relationship as a soft space to fall at the end of a hard day
  • A feeling of true and unwavering partnership
